These years anime is really popular in China, especially Chinese anime. They contain plenty of Chinese elements, such as traditional food, clothes, and mythological legends. If you want to learn Mandarin while learning about Chinese culture in an entertaining way, we recommend these five anime.
Big Fish & Begonia (大鱼海棠）
The film tells the story of chun (椿), a young girl who is in charge of the growth of begonias, and her struggle to repay her kindness by trying to resurrect the soul of a human boy, "Kun"(鲲), to grow up to be a fish more gigantic than a whale and return to the sea, but the process keeps on violating the laws of the world of the "gods" and causing all kinds of calamities, and the story of the struggle of destinies that are entangled with each other. The film is based on ancient Chinese books such as " Classic of Mountains and Seas"(山海经) and "In Search of the Supernatural"(搜神记).
Heaven Official's Blessing(天官赐福)
It tells the story of Xie Lian(谢怜), the Prince of Xian Le Kingdom(仙乐国), who ascends to immortality for the third time after being deposed one after another, but he accidentally destroys the golden halls of the magi and has no one to worship him, so he can only go down to the mortal world in exchange for merits as compensation.
The anime is based on a danmei (耽美) novel written by Chinese author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (墨香铜臭), also known as MXTX.

Somewhere in the corner of a busy city, a small shop called "Time Photo Studio" is still operating as usual. Although the door is closed, it is actually run by two men with special abilities behind it - Cheng Xiaoshi(程小时) and Lu Guang(陆光). In order to fulfil a customer's commission, Lu Guang and Cheng XiaoShi team up and cooperate to use their superpowers to enter the photos, however, things don't turn out the way they want .......
Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi (魔道祖师)
The story is set in a fictional xianxia(仙侠) world where humans known as "cultivators"(修炼者) specialise in spiritual, physical, and paranormal pursuits to achieve transcendence from mortality. It tells the tale of the eponymous Wei Wuxian, who diverged from conventional practices and invented an unorthodox path of cultivation.
This anime has the same author with Heaven Officials’ blessing.
Fei Ren Zai (非人哉)
The story revolves around the female protagonist, the nine-tailed fox,Jiu Yue(九月), who lives in a contemporary city and grows up as an ordinary office worker working hard to earn money and keep up with the times. At the same time, it tells the lively and colourful daily lives of many familiar Chinese mythological characters in contemporary times.
At the end of each episode, there will be a small science lecture on traditional culture and allusions to popularise traditional cultural knowledge for the public.
